Celebrating Earth Day: Small Changes to Make a Big Impact

Hey Kings, With Earth Day coming up on April 22nd, it’s the perfect time to reflect on the health of our planet and how us men can come together to make the world a better place through sustainable living. You don’t have to make drastic changes to improve the health of our planet or commit to a fully green lifestyle to take part in sustainability. Today, let’s discuss ways we can make small adjustments in our daily lives to make a positive impact on the environment – on Earth Day and beyond.
Dress Smart
Fast fashion is one of the biggest factors contributing to environmental pollution, but a problem that we can come together to diminish. Fast fashion entices us to constantly buy new clothes we don’t even need to follow the latest trends, and the clothes end up in landfills in a few months once the trend is over. Instead, opt for quality over quantity – timeless and high-quality clothing items will not only help the environment, but will elevate your wardrobe for years to come. Additionally, choose to support eco-friendly and sustainable clothing brands instead of brands that only care about the latest and greatest trends. Simple clothing swaps make all the difference on the environment.
Ditch the Disposable
Today’s world is filled with single-use plastics contributing to environmental harm – getting a to-go iced coffee or a plastic bag in the grocery check-out line. Though it may seem completely unavoidable, there are plenty of simple swaps we can make to reduce waste. Invest in a high-quality, reusable water bottle instead of continuously buying plastic bottles at the store. Not only is a reusable water bottle better for the environment, it’s better for your pocketbook. Bring your own reusable coffee cup next time you visit your favorite coffee shop and your own reusable bags next time you make a grocery store run. We can’t always avoid plastic when we’re out and about, and sometimes we forget to bring our own reusable products. Just remember that a little bit of contribution is better than nothing.
Make a Local Impact
Get involved with your community to make a difference that you can actually see. With Earth Day right around the corner, now is the perfect time to start or join efforts in your very own community – there are likely plenty of events happening right now that you can participate in. Volunteer to clean-up the streets, parks, and beaches; these are common places that get littered and could truly use the clean-up. Encourage your family and friends to join the clean-up crew to help the environment and have a bonding experience all at the same. If you’re able to, donate and support local environmental organizations who are dedicated to bettering the environment. If you’re unable to donate, simply give your time to these organizations to still be a part of the change.
Earth Day serves as a reminder to protect the beautiful planet we live on and often take for granted. These small lifestyle changes significantly reduce our environmental footprint and make the world a better place to live on for future generations to come. This Earth Day, let’s start the conversation with those around us on how we can come together for good to improve the health of our planet.
