Mid-Year Check-In

We’re more than halfway through the year, which means it’s the perfect time to check-in with yourself and your progress since January. It’s not unheard of or uncommon to ditch your New Year’s goals by January 10th and say to yourself, “Next year will be my year,” and fall back into your comfort zone. If that sounds like you, know that you’re not alone and it’s not too late to try again. You don’t need a new year to make changes in your life.
June doesn’t just mark the start of the summer — it marks a halfway point. This month is a time for renewal and bringing in new energy. Whether you’ve been crushing your goals or you’ve fallen off the track, June can be your turning point.
Ask yourself: Are you living the life you said you would six months ago? That question isn’t meant to scare you – it’s a wake up call. It’s a reminder that there’s still time to adjust your course of action before another year passes by.
Revisit Your Vision
The first step is to revisit your vision. When the clock struck midnight on January 1st, what did you set out to achieve this year? Reflect with these questions:
- What goals did I set, and why?
- Have my priorities shifted?
- Am I happy with my progress so far?
Don’t sugarcoat your answers. Be 100% honest and truthful, your answers might surprise you. Growing and evolving as a person often comes with changing your mind, and realizing it’s time to take a different path.
Refocus, Not Restart
As men, we tend to zero in on what we haven’t accomplished yet. We carry the weight of unmet expectations and self-doubt on our shoulders. Relieve the stress off your shoulders and shift your focus to what’s going right. Maybe you’ve been going for walks more often. Maybe you’ve learned how to slow down and take a breather when needed. These small wins give you fuel needed to continue building and stacking your goals. Remember, progress isn’t always loud. Most of the time, progress is quiet and consistent.
Reignite Your Fire
Now that we’ve reflected and refocused, what’s next? It’s time to reignite your fire and move forward with purpose. Here’s how to shift from stuck to building solid momentum:
- Set One Goal: Instead of overwhelming yourself with a long list of goals, set one meaningful and realistic goal – commit to it and strive towards it every day.
- Build A Routine: Let your goal shape your routine and how you structure your day. This is how habits form and become ingrained into your life.
- Track Your Wins: Write down your progress at the end of each week. These wins are proof that you’re moving forward.
You still have 6 months left in the year – shift direction and double down on your goals. When December comes, will you look back with regret or pride at how far you’ve come? Your comeback starts now, Kings.
